Vin Diesel has reignited talk around the final chapter of the Fast & Furious franchise after posting a photo with Cristiano Ronaldo and writing that filmmakers have “written a role” for the soccer star in the next film. The tease spread quickly across entertainment and sports circles, even as the studio has not issued a casting announcement or provided details on what the part would entail.
In the Instagram caption quoted by multiple outlets, Diesel wrote: “Everyone asked, would he be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you he is a real one. We wrote a role for him… @cristiano.” A regional report said Diesel later edited the post, removing a specific reference that linked the idea to Los Bandoleros, the 2009 short film he wrote and directed as a prelude to Fast & Furious. That change shifted the conversation from a one-off concept to renewed guessing about a cameo in the franchise finale.
The Ronaldo hint lands amid continuing uncertainty about timing and scope for the next film. Diesel previously told a live audience at FuelFest that the studio asked for an April 2027 release and said he agreed under three conditions: bring the story back to Los Angeles, refocus on street racing, and reunite Dom with Brian O’Conner, the character played by the late Paul Walker.
Separately, a report citing The Wall Street Journal said the follow-up has faced budget pressure, with the studio seeking major cost reductions before moving forward, and noted there was no approved script or release date at the time of that reporting.
Ronaldo has signaled interest in expanding his entertainment footprint beyond endorsements. In April 2025, he announced UR•Marv, a film studio launched with director Matthew Vaughn, and said the venture had already financed and produced two action films, with a third planned.
