Jared Leto Accused of Criminal Sexual Conduct by Four Women in BBC Film
The BBC documentary revisits years of claims against the Oscar winner, adding corroborated details from women who say the alleged incidents began when they were teenagers.
Four women have accused actor and musician Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct in a BBC documentary that aired Wednesday, alleging that the encounters happened when they were teenagers between 2002 and 2016. The film, titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” features testimony from ten women in total, nine of whom are speaking publicly for the first time.
One accuser, identified by the pseudonym Isabel, says Leto assaulted her in a Las Vegas motel bathroom in 2002, when she was 17 and he was in his 30s. She told the BBC he grabbed her hand and used it to masturbate while showering. Another woman, Alex, says Leto threatened her with sexual assault after she was left alone with him in a London hotel room at 19.
A third, Clara, alleges she had sex with Leto in California at 17, below the state’s age of consent of 18, and that he waved off her concerns, telling her age “is just a number.” A fourth, Etta, says she received sexually explicit phone calls from Leto starting at 16 and was later asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement, which she declined.
Two men who worked with Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, told producers colleagues were uneasy about how Leto interacted with teenage girls, sometimes inviting them backstage or to his recording studio. The BBC says it corroborated portions of several accounts through friends, family and documentation, including photographs and messages.
Leto did not respond to repeated requests for comment from the broadcaster. His representatives have previously and categorically rejected similar claims. When nine women made comparable allegations in a 2025 report by the outlet Air Mail, a Leto spokesperson called them “demonstrably false” and said his communications with one accuser, model Laura La Rue, “contain nothing sexual or inappropriate.” That earlier wave of claims traced back to a 2012 Facebook post by DJ Allie Teilz, resurfaced last year, describing an alleged backstage assault at 17.
The BBC says it has identified more than 120 allegations posted online concerning Leto’s conduct toward women, though many remain historical and unverified. The 54-year-old actor, an Academy Award winner for “Dallas Buyers Club,” continues to tour with Thirty Seconds to Mars and has recent film credits including “Masters of the Universe.”
