Sony Pictures has set holiday 2027 dates for two of its biggest bets. Ridley Scott’s Treasure Island opens November 11, 2027, and the comedy sequel 24 Jump Street follows on December 10, 2027.
Sony announced the schedule on September 30 at Cinema United’s Fall Summit. The studio also moved other titles around. Treasure Island takes the Veterans Day corridor because it goes into production first, according to Deadline. That shift pushed Helldivers, now starring Alan Ritchson, from November 10, 2027, to June 9, 2028.
Hugh Jackman plays the pirate Long John Silver in Treasure Island, with Hugh Grant and Owen Cooper also starring. Jack Thorne wrote the script, and Scott produces with Michael Pruss through Scott Free. The story follows a young boy who finds a map to buried treasure, sails after it and ends up in a deadly battle of wits with Silver.
Rodney Rothman, who directed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, directs 24 Jump Street from a script he wrote with Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy. Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube reprise their roles in the R-rated franchise. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed 2012’s 21 Jump Street and its 2014 sequel, serve as producers. Variety reported in June that the three stars were in talks to return.
The calendar places a pirate adventure and an undercover comedy a month apart at the end of 2027. One entertainment outlet called the pairing an eclectic one-two punch. Sony’s other new dates are The Surgeon on April 2, 2027, and Narcs on August 20, 2027.
The Helldivers move carries its own stakes. The film now lands in summer, the season for studios’ biggest action releases, where it faces stiff competition. Scott’s film, by contrast, gets a holiday-weekend launch with a major star and a classic title. Sony’s 2027 slate now runs from spring through December, with the year’s final two months anchored by a literary adaptation and a comedy revival.
