It’s official. The hit show will not be returning for a third season. David Fincher, the mastermind behind the show, has finally given his fans the much-awaited update they have been dreading. In an interview, Fincher revealed that the show was canceled due to the low viewership numbers.
Mindhunter, a thrilling crime series, first premiered on Netflix in 2017, to great critical acclaim. The show’s second season premiered in 2019 and left fans eagerly anticipating its return for a third season. Unfortunately, it was not to be, and fans were left devastated when the news of its cancellation broke.
In an interview, Fincher expressed his disappointment but did not blame Netflix for their decision to pull the plug. He acknowledged that the show’s production was expensive, and the audience numbers were not high enough to justify the investment.
Despite the setback, Fincher is not short of projects to keep him busy. He is currently working on three new productions, including his latest film, The Killer, starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton. Fincher is also producing two new series, Lange and Chinatown.
Although the news of Mindhunter’s cancellation is a bitter pill to swallow for fans, they can still appreciate the show’s first two seasons. The series stands as a testament to Fincher’s genius and the talents of the entire cast and crew.
So, while we may never know what would have happened in season three, we can still cherish the memories of the first two seasons and look forward to Fincher’s future projects.
