Nayanthara, a South Indian film star, will star in “Rakkayie,” a new period action film that marks MovieVerse Studios’ debut in Tamil cinema. The film promises an emotional story of a mother’s effort to safeguard her child, with Nayanthara playing a high-stakes action role.
MovieVerse Studios and Chennai-based Drumsticks Productions collaborated on the film, which newbie Senthil Nallasamy directs. The studio intends to release the film in other regional languages, including Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada.
Nayanthara, dubbed the “Lady Superstar” of South Indian cinema, revealed the film’s emotional idea to her large social media following. “In a land where justice is but a memory, there lived a mother whose world was her child,” she said on Instagram. The actress suggested a strong narrative in which a mother faces serious dangers to her daughter.
A title teaser, released on Nayanthara’s birthday, exposes the film’s serious tone. The brief video depicts her character preparing to defend her child against an armed crowd, ending in a dramatic sequence in which she stands ready to fight alone.
“‘Rakkayie’ is a film that has been carefully crafted to push boundaries,” stated Vivek Krishnani, CEO of MovieVerse Studios. The project aims to tell a story that will resonate with people in multiple locations.
The production team comprises accomplished individuals such as composer Govind Vasantha, cinematographer Gautham Rajendran, and editor Praveen Antony. Aditya Pittie, managing director of IN10 Media Network, stressed the studio’s mission of telling tales that transcend geography.
This project comes after Nayanthara’s recent successful performances in films such as “Jawan” and “Netrikann.” It also follows the release of “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale,” a Netflix documentary that delves into her personal and professional life.
MovieVerse Studios, which will be formed in 2023, plans to make “Rakkayie” the first of multiple regional film projects. Production is set to begin soon, bringing an intriguing new addition to South Indian film.
