Ozzy Osbourne once had the chance to audition for Pirates of the Caribbean, but Sharon Osbourne prevented it from happening. Speaking on The Magnificent Others With Billy Corgan podcast, she admitted that she turned down the opportunity, a decision she now regrets.
“Do you want to know the biggest mistake I ever made with Ozzy?” she said. “He got offered to go and read for Pirates of the Caribbean—and I’ve never said this to anyone.”
Billy Corgan reacted with surprise, asking if she had refused the offer. Sharon confirmed, saying, “I said no. Now, wouldn’t he have been perfect?”
She pointed out that Johnny Depp had brought Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones into the franchise as Captain Teague, Jack Sparrow’s father. Corgan joked that there was still time for Ozzy to take on a film role.
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has generated over $4.5 billion worldwide. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that multiple new projects are in development. One focuses on a younger cast, while another, linked to Margot Robbie, is still in the works.
Ozzy has appeared in several films, including Little Nicky, Austin Powers in Goldmember, Moulin Rouge!, and Gnomeo & Juliet.
