The 76th Berlin International Film Festival will take place from February 12 to 22, 2026. Festival organizers announced the schedule this week, confirming timing that had been widely anticipated by the film industry.
Tricia Tuttle, who took over as festival director for the 2025 edition, will return to oversee the event. “After the anniversary edition, we are now starting to plan for 2026. We look forward to once again bringing cinema to the film industry and audiences and to being a platform for the global film industry,” Tuttle said.
The European Film Market (EFM) will open on February 11 and run through February 18. Other industry events, including the Berlinale Co-Production Market from February 14 to 17, Berlinale Talents from February 13 to 18, and World Cinema Fund Day on February 17, will be organized under the Berlinale Pro* banner. These events will be led by Tanja Meissner, who continues to direct the European Film Market and the broader professional program.
The timing of the festival will prevent a direct conflict with the BAFTA Film Awards, which are scheduled for February 22. In recent years, overlapping dates created challenges for film professionals attending both events. In 2026, the BAFTAs will fall on the final day of the Berlinale after most festival activities have concluded.
Organizers have stated that planning is already underway for both public screenings and professional programming in preparation for the 76th edition.
