Joe Keery, best known as Steve Harrington in Netflix’s flagship sci-fi drama, has signed with CAA, according to Deadline. The move lands as the actor readies his final turn on the series’ fifth season, which rolls out in three parts this fall and winter and caps with a two-hour finale that will debut on Netflix and in more than 350 theaters in the U.S. and Canada on December 31 at 5 p.m. PT. Keery continues to be managed by 3Arts Entertainment and Stern Management, with legal representation at Goodman Genow, per the agency announcement.
The agency shift arrives at a moment of heightened visibility for Keery across screen and stage. Beyond the Hawkins send-off, his music career under the moniker Djo has surged, including a viral single and a third album released earlier this year. In a June interview, he described navigating public expectations while keeping his work grounded: “I’m trying to follow my instincts and stay earnest.” That balancing act—franchise closer on one side, touring and recording on the other—positions him for a broad slate of opportunities as industry attention converges on the show’s finale.
The series itself is building to a coordinated rollout: Volume 1 premieres November 26, Volume 2 arrives December 25, and the finale lands New Year’s Eve day-and-date with theatrical screenings, a rare play for a streaming title that underscores the show’s event status. The creators have trailed bigger set pieces and an expansive final chapter, and Netflix has begun promoting global fan events alongside the release calendar. For Keery, who has portrayed Steve across four prior seasons, the farewell doubles as a career inflection point, with new representation now in place as he looks past the Upside Down.
