Australia’s SBS has begun positioning four-part thriller Reckless for international buyers, with France-based Federation introducing the series at MIPCOM in Cannes today. Commissioned for SBS and NITV, the Fremantle-set drama follows estranged siblings who cover up a fatal hit-and-run and scramble to contain the fallout. The series is adapted from Neil Forsyth’s Scottish drama Guilt and is produced by BBC Studios Productions Australia.

A new trailer released today sets a local premiere for Wednesday November 12 on SBS, NITV and SBS On Demand. Tasma Walton and Hunter Page-Lochard lead the cast as June and Charlie, with Jessica de Gouw among the supporting ensemble. The show is written by Kodie Bedford and Stuart Page and directed by Beck Cole, with Andy Walker producing and executive producing alongside Kylie Washington and Bedford. Investment comes from Screen Australia’s First Nations Department, Screenwest, the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive and Screen NSW.

Federation’s sales listing describes a 4×52-minute series that leans into dark comedy as guilt, suspicion and family tension escalate around the cover-up. The listing also highlights the Fremantle backdrop and the narrative focus on the siblings’ strained alliance as outside pressure builds.

Screen Australia’s guide notes cinematographer Murray Lui and editor Kasra Rassoulzadegan among key creatives, and confirms the project’s post-production status in 2025. The guide also reiterates core story beats: the split-second decision after the collision, the mounting consequences, and the uneasy partnership between the siblings.

For SBS, Reckless sits within an expanding slate of Australian scripted projects being readied for late-2025 rollout and international distribution. The MIPCOM launch signals a push to close territory deals ahead of domestic debut, with materials emphasizing Western Australian locations, a First Nations creative lead, and a tonal mix of crime and bleak humor. Today’s trailer and locked airdate provide fresh momentum for buyers assessing schedules out of Cannes.
