According to a report by PCGamesN, the mech-themed battling game crafted by the creators of Dark Souls initially claimed the top spot on Steam’s list of best-selling games during the weekend. While it currently ranks fifth, its launch generated enough momentum to dethrone the highly acclaimed game “Baldur’s Gate 3” from its throne.
“Fires of Rubicon” marks a significant return after 11 years, being the latest installment in the Armored Core series. This launch carries additional weight due to the release of other prominent titles like “Elden Ring,” “Dark Souls 3,” “Bloodborne,” and “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice,” which have bolstered FromSoftware’s reputation. The anticipation for this game was therefore notably high.

Arnaud Muller, CEO of Bandai Namco Europe, shared his aspirations for the game, stating, “This is an opportunity for us to truly widen the audience of the Armored Core games.” Although he acknowledged that the expectations may not match those of “Elden Ring,” he emphasized that the scope of ambition surpasses previous entries in the Armored Core series.

Unexpected Similarities
Despite the apparent contrast between the world of massive mechs in Armored Core 6 and the fantasy realm of “Elden Ring,” an interesting technical similarity emerges.
The PlayStation 4 Pro version of “Armored Core 6” achieves a locked framerate of 60fps on PlayStation 5, despite Bandai Namco’s prior claim of a maximum of 30fps at 1800p resolution—reminiscent of the technical achievement seen in “Elden Ring.”
In a review with a rating of 8/10, Gazettely praised the game’s deep mech customization and thrilling and responsive combat in “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.” According to the review, Armored Core VI is a must-play for mech action fans.
