As Cities Skylines 2 prepares for its much-anticipated release, fans have been treated to a slew of exciting features and improvements that have left them eager to dive into the sequel. From a revamped traffic system to the introduction of roundabouts and simplified highway ramp construction, the sequel promises a more immersive city-building experience.

However, one key building feature appeared to be missing from Cities Skylines 2 – contour lines. Yet, recent developments suggest that contour lines may indeed be part of the game at launch.

Colossal Order, the creators behind Cities Skylines 2, initially indicated that contour lines, which aid in visualizing the different elevations and gradients in the game’s terrain, would not be included in the base game. This left many fans disappointed, as contour lines are an invaluable tool for precision city planning. However, a glimmer of hope has emerged.

In a recent post shared by Colossal Order on their official communication platform, X (formerly Twitter), the developers unveiled details about Cities Skylines 2’s terraforming tools. These tools, which allow players to manipulate the terrain and create scenic landscapes, were showcased in a screenshot accompanying the post. Upon closer inspection, observant fans noticed the presence of contour lines in the image.

This revelation has sparked speculation within the Cities Skylines community. It is unclear whether the screenshot reflects a feature included in the initial release or if it is from an updated build planned for a post-launch update.

Regardless, the mere existence of contour lines in the screenshot has reignited hope among fans that this essential building feature will be available in Cities Skylines 2, either from day one or shortly after its release.

With Cities Skylines 2 shaping up to be the sequel fans have longed for, this unexpected twist regarding contour lines adds another layer of anticipation. Whether they are present from the outset or introduced in a subsequent update, it is clear that the developers are committed to delivering an enhanced and immersive city-building experience in Cities Skylines 2.

As players eagerly await the release of Cities Skylines 2, they can also prepare by ensuring their PC meets the system requirements and exploring the latest mods for the original game, making their current city-building adventures even more enjoyable while counting down the days to the sequel’s arrival.
