BAFTA on Tuesday unveiled the nominations for the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” leading the field on 14 nominations and Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” close behind on 13. “Hamnet” and “Marty Supreme” followed with 11 each, while “Frankenstein” and “Sentimental Value” each scored eight.
The Best Film lineup pairs heavyweight studio titles with international prestige plays: “One Battle After Another,” “Hamnet,” “Marty Supreme,” “Sinners,” and “Sentimental Value.” BAFTA will hand out the awards on Feb. 22 in London, with Alan Cumming set to host and the show airing on BBC One and iPlayer in the U.K.
In the acting races, the leading actor field pits Leonardo DiCaprio (“One Battle After Another”) against Timothée Chalamet (“Marty Supreme”), Michael B. Jordan (“Sinners”), Jesse Plemons (“Bugonia”), Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”) and Robert Aramayo (“I Swear”). On the actress side, nominees include Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”), Emma Stone (“Bugonia”), Kate Hudson (“Song Sung Blue”), Rose Byrne (“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”), Chase Infiniti (“One Battle After Another”) and Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”).
The list carries a few loud talking points for the awards circuit. BAFTA’s director category included just one woman, Chloé Zhao (“Hamnet”), alongside Anderson, Coogler, Yorgos Lanthimos and Joachim Trier. “Wicked: For Good” landed nominations in craft categories such as costume and makeup & hair, yet missed the acting races that helped drive its campaign narrative.
BAFTA’s process helps explain why its slate can diverge from other precursors: acting longlists start with chapter voting, then a longlisting jury adds slots from the next tier of performers before members pick the final nominees. The one category decided by public vote remains EE Rising Star, with nominees Archie Madekwe, Chase Infiniti, Miles Caton, Posy Sterling and Robert Aramayo.
