In the realm of modding, creativity knows no bounds. The gaming community’s ingenuity often results in innovations that breathe new life into beloved titles.
One such instance is the ‘Level 20 (Multiclass)’ mod for Baldur’s Gate 3, which offers players a tantalizing prospect – the ability to shatter the confines of the game’s level cap and ascend to level 20. However, like any intriguing proposition, there’s a catch that adds a unique twist to this endeavor.
The ‘Level 20 (Multiclass)’ mod, found within the realm of Nexusmods, makes good on its promise. It empowers players to progress well beyond the conventional level 12 threshold that Baldur’s Gate 3 imposes.
The mechanics behind this mod are rooted in the concept of multiclassing. As the mod’s description clarifies, reaching level 20 requires embracing a multiclass approach, with no single class allowed to exceed level 12.
The Unveiling of Potential
While the mod doesn’t bestow higher-level spells and abilities, its allure lies in the tapestry of possibilities it weaves. By enabling characters to embark on multiclassed journeys, players can concoct a medley of potent and varied character builds, each weaving together different class synergies.
Before enthusiasts of Baldur’s Gate 3 delve into this newfound modded dimension, a few intricacies warrant attention. The mod’s creator offers guidance to ensure seamless implementation.
To avoid game crashes, players are advised to approach the 12th level cautiously, taking it as the final step. The description provides an example to elucidate the concept: Fighter 11 / Barbarian 8 / Fighter 12.
Furthermore, the mod’s influence on spellcasting is outlined. The multiclass spell slot table is capped at 12, regardless of the number of casting classes taken. This translates to a maximum of 12 levels’ worth of Baldur’s Gate 3 spell slots, applying to both the player and their companions.

Variety in Approaches
The ‘Level 20’ mod caters to diverse preferences through its variants. Players can opt for ‘Regular Leveling,’ maintaining the base game’s experience by retaining the same XP requirement for each level. Alternatively, ‘Faster Leveling’ halves the XP needed for progression, allowing for more rapid advancement.
For those seeking an accelerated route, ‘Instant Leveling’ demands a mere 200 XP to achieve level 20. However, the mod’s developer suggests caution, deeming this variant unsuitable for “serious gameplay.”
The reception of the ‘Level 20’ mod among the Baldur’s Gate 3 community has been unequivocally positive. The mod has secured a prominent spot as the second most trending entry on Nexusmod’s trending mods page, trailing only the Baldur’s Gate 3 mod fixer.
As players explore this captivating modded avenue, they’re invited to breach the boundaries of the known and forge their narratives within the ever-evolving tapestry of Baldur’s Gate 3.
