The much-anticipated ‘Star Trek: Section 31‘, starring the versatile Michelle Yeoh, has officially commenced filming, ushering in a new era for the Star Trek universe. Joining Michelle Yeoh, who reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, is an ensemble cast of both seasoned and emerging talents. The film centers on Yeoh’s character, Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a figure first introduced in ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 1. After being killed off, she returned as her mirror-verse counterpart, Emperor Georgiou.
In ‘Star Trek: Section 31’, she joins a secretive division of Starfleet, the covert intelligence and defense organization working on behalf of the United Federation of Planets. The story is set to explore Georgiou’s confrontation with her past sins while she undertakes missions to protect the federation.

Originally announced over four years ago as a spin-off series, ‘Star Trek: Section 31’ underwent a transformation into a feature-length film, exclusively for Paramount Plus. This shift in format was announced last year, sparking new interest and speculation about the project’s direction.
The film is directed by ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ producer and helmer Olatunde Osunsanmi, with a script by Craig Sweeny, known for his work on ‘Elementary’ and ‘Star Trek: Discovery’.
