Triumph Studios, in collaboration with Paradox Interactive, is set to enhance the fantastical world of Age of Wonders 4 with the upcoming release of the ‘Primal Fury‘ content pack. Scheduled for release on February 27th, this pack introduces a new theme to the grand strategy series, immersing players in a realm where beasts and nature reign supreme.
‘Primal Fury’ marks the third DLC for Age of Wonders 4, a game celebrated for its blend of fantasy and strategic gameplay. The highlight of this pack is the introduction of the Primal Culture, a unique aspect that allows players to adopt the spirit of primal animals, transforming both the empire’s physical and spiritual essence.
This new feature includes seven primal animals like the Tunneling Spider and the Glacial Mammoth, each linked to specific terrains and damage types. Players can embark on quests unique to each animal, terraforming the land to their chosen biome and gaining combat buffs.
In addition to the Primal Culture, the DLC introduces two new physical forms for players’ people: the Lupine and Goatkin. These forms offer fresh perspectives for empire building, allowing players to create factions of arcane wolves or forest-dwelling satyrs.
Magical Enhancements and Strategic Depth
The ‘Primal Fury’ pack also brings two new Tomes of Magic. The Tome of Fey Mists specializes in deploying magical mists that shield units from ranged attacks and provide buffs. Meanwhile, the Tome of the Stormborne allows for control over water and lightning, offering economic bonuses from ocean provinces, the creation of Stormbringer units, and the ability to transform armies into Naga!
Additionally, the pack includes four new mounts, six new wildlife units, and new realm content featuring a world of hostile seas and a war between two powerful Godir of nature. To complete the experience, a Primal Fury interface skin is included, giving the game a fresh, wild visual design complete with wooden frames and blooming flowers.
Complementary Update: The Wolf
Accompanying the ‘Primal Fury’ release is the free Wolf Update. This update reworks necromancy mechanics, introduces new randomly generated items, and adds War Bounties, enabling players to direct allies in conflict.
‘Primal Fury’ is priced at $9.99/£8.49/€9.99, but it’s also included with the Expansion Pass and the Premium Edition of Age of Wonders 4. This DLC is a testament to the game’s continued evolution since its launch in May of the previous year. Returning to the fantasy roots after the sci-fi detour of Age of Wonders: Planetfall, Age of Wonders 4 has been well-received for its engaging gameplay and customizable empires and races.
