Netflix has tapped Anya Taylor-Joy to star in an upcoming television adaptation of Bella Mackie’s crime thriller novel “How to Kill Your Family.” Taylor-Joy, known for her breakout role in the hit Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit,” will portray Grace Bernard, the murderous protagonist in the series.
The eight-episode Netflix show will follow Grace, who is the illegitimate child of a wealthy billionaire, as she devises a sinister plan to kill off her estranged family members and inherit their fortune. Taylor-Joy said in a statement that she enjoyed the novel and is excited “to bring this compelling story to the screen.”
The series is being produced by the production team behind the BBC drama “Killing Eve,” including lead writer and executive producer Emma Moran. Mackie, author of the source material, will also serve as a co-executive producer on the project. She expressed enthusiasm about watching her characters “come to life under this talented creative team.”
Netflix revealed details about the “How to Kill Your Family” show as part of an announcement unveiling several new documentaries and scripted projects. Viewers can expect to see Taylor-Joy delve into the complex mind of the devious character when the dark crime drama series debuts on the streaming service.
