Mortal Kombat 11 made its debut at the beginning of 2019 and stopped receiving new content in the middle of last year. The community is certainly hungry and eagerly awaiting the reveal of NetherRealm Studios‘ new game.

While it’s a mystery when there will be any news about it, though, Ed Boon did drop new hints that increased the hype. Community expected the studio’s new project to be revealed during The Game Awards 2022, similarly to what happened with the eleventh installment of the fighting franchise starring Scorpion.

Ed Boon, though, promptly extinguished hopes in the days leading up to the event. It’s hard to know when we will learn the first details of the new NetherRealm Studios video game. Nevertheless, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat hinted on social networks that the reveal could be just a few months away.

Netherrealm Studios’ New Project Will Be Released Next Year

The thing is, NRS Studios Creative Director Ed Boon held a Q&A session on Twitter. Of course, a lot of the questions revolved around the studio’s next game. While specific details were conspicuous by their absence, new pieces are now available for speculation.

When one fan asked if there will be news of the new project in the next 6 months, the designer stated that it is “likely”.

Thus, to think of an announcement during the summer event season is not far-fetched, though the reveal trailer could also appear at a PlayStation Showcase or other special broadcast.

Responding to another fan, Ed Boon says that signs point to NetherRealm Studios revealing its new title next year. However, the reply suggests that there could be changes in plans.

Now when will the developer studio’s next big video game debut? Ed Boon was very cagey in answering those questions, but he hinted that it could happen in 2023. As usual, we will have to wait to find out what they have in store.
