Nintendo and Illumination have recently released an exciting new video clip from the highly anticipated film adaptation of the classic Mario Bros. video game franchise.
The video features the first appearance of actor Seth Rogen as the iconic character Donkey Kong, and gives fans a sneak peek into what they can expect from the movie.
The clip begins with Mario, played by Chris Pratt, getting a rough start as he sets out on a thrilling treasure hunt. In his quest, he comes across a Cat Suit in one of the broken blocks, which elicits a hilarious reaction from the gorilla Donkey Kong. The Cat Suit, as it turns out, has powerful abilities that Mario is yet to discover.
In previous promotional materials, fans have been introduced to the flying arena, which is filled with challenges and a dedicated fan following. The latest teaser, called “Smash,” has led many fans to speculate that it may be a reference to the popular Smash Bros. series.
The 30-second clip also showcases the voices of several other characters, with the exception of Mario himself. This comes as a surprise to some fans, given that Chris Pratt’s casting as Mario caused quite a stir in the gaming community.
In fact, fans even called for veteran video game voice actor Charles Martinet, who has been playing Mario for many years, to reprise his role in the film. Despite these pleas, Hollywood has decided to go in a different direction.
The full title of the movie, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” is set to premiere in the United States on April 7th, 2023. Fans of the video game franchise are eagerly waiting to see the iconic characters brought to life on the big screen.
