Turn 10 Studios, the developers behind the renowned racing game Forza Motorsport, has outlined a comprehensive plan for addressing key issues and enhancing player experience in their latest game.

The updates scheduled for 2024 focus on fine-tuning the game’s car progression systems, the Forza Race Regulations penalty system, and AI driver behaviors, demonstrating the studio’s commitment to player feedback and continual improvement.

One of the most significant changes in the Forza Motorsport series is the ‘CarPG’ progression system, which marks a departure from traditional gameplay mechanics seen in previous installments and rival games like Gran Turismo.

Instead of purchasing upgrades with in-game currency, players must spend time driving their cars to level them up in an RPG-like progression. While this system has been appreciated for its unique approach and flexibility in car setup, it has also faced criticism for being time-consuming, particularly for players who prefer a more straightforward upgrade path.

Acknowledging the mixed feedback, Turn 10 announced their plans to revisit the ‘CarPG’ system. Their goal is to maintain the aspects that players enjoy while addressing the concerns of those who find the system less appealing. The studio emphasized that refining this feature is a top priority, but cautioned that it will require time to evaluate options, implement code changes, and conduct thorough testing.

Beyond the progression system, Turn 10 is also looking to improve the Forza Race Regulation system. Players have reported inconsistencies in how the game handles various scenarios, such as intentional ramming, being pushed off track, and spinning cars. The studio plans to gather data and analyze these issues to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the penalty system.

Another area of focus is the game’s AI. Players have observed issues with AI-controlled cars, including sudden braking, insufficient acceleration out of corners, and overly rigid adherence to the racing line. Moreover, the AI’s aggressive behavior at the start of races, which often leads to a need for quick restarts, is also under scrutiny. Turn 10 is committed to addressing these AI behaviors to provide a more realistic and enjoyable racing experience.

This announcement marks the beginning of what Turn 10 promises to be quarterly introspective reviews of Forza Motorsport. These reviews aim to align the game’s development with community feedback and demands. The studio has shown a dedication to keeping players informed with regular updates, the most recent of which introduced the Hockenheim Ring and a series of weekly spotlight cars and races.

As fans eagerly anticipate the next content update, expected to arrive in the coming days, Turn 10’s commitment to refining Forza Motorsport is clear. These updates are not just about fixing issues but are part of a broader effort to evolve the game in line with player expectations and the ever-changing landscape of gaming.
