The movie version of the video game Borderlands has gotten people buzzing. One reason is its great cast of actors. Jamie Lee Curtis just revealed why she signed on – because of her costar Cate Blanchett.
Curtis told interviewers at Comic-Con that Blanchett was her main reason for doing the film. She was worried about filming during COVID-19. But working with Blanchett made her say yes right away. Curtis wanted scenes with the talented actress.
Blanchett is more than a favorite to Curtis. She sees her as changing movies. It’s like when Curtis acted with Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All At Once. Both times, top women in film swayed her decision.
On Instagram, Curtis praised Blanchett as “a great actress and role model.” She inspires Curtis with her charity work helping refugees.
Blanchett plays the outlaw Lilith in Borderlands. She was the first star cast. Clearly her name carries weight, since the film also includes Kevin Hart and Jack Black.
Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands follows Lilith recruiting a team. It cost $100 million to make. To succeed, it may need over $250 million earned back worldwide.
