The highly anticipated trailer for Deadpool 3 finally arrived, revealing the film’s official title – Deadpool & Wolverine. However, despite being named in the title, Wolverine himself is barely featured, prompting a hilarious reaction from Hugh Jackman.

In the trailer, Wolverine only briefly appears in shadow and from behind, offering just a fleeting glimpse of the iconic clawed mutant. Jackman poked fun at his own super-limited role by sharing the film’s poster on social media, but with the title edited to ‘Wolverine & Asshole’.

“Fixed it,” Jackman joked about calling attention to Deadpool’s dominance of the trailer. Ryan Reynolds, reprising his role as the “Merc with a Mouth,” responded in kind by telling Jackman to “pump the brakes” and teasing there’s a long way to go before the film’s release.

Jackman Lightheartedly Roasts His Own Minimal Screen Time

The lighthearted banter embodies the tone fans have come to expect from Reynolds and Jackman’s legendary bromance and meta references to their own stardom. Their witty back-and-forth builds anticipation for what promises to be a riotous and irreverent dynamic between the crass Deadpool and stoic Wolverine when they finally unite on screen.

Beyond the stars’ humor, the trailer itself showcases Deadpool’s brand of R-rated mayhem joining the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bloody action and sly pop culture nods abound, with Deadpool’s adventures even taking him to the MCU’s bureaucratic TVA organization.

Stars’ Witty Banter Builds Hype for Sequel’s Comedic Chemistry

While Wolverine may have only a supporting role, the trailer confirms Deadpool will finally bring his own scathing, fourth-wall-breaking sensibility into the MCU’s fold. And with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds handling the hype, fans are assured plenty more witty meta promotional antics before Deadpool 3 hits theaters in 2024.
