Get ready to crack the case – Nobody Wants to Die, the gritty, atmospheric neo-noir detective thriller, is almost here. Publisher Plaion and developer Critical Hit have locked in a July 17th release date for the highly anticipated title coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Set in a gorgeous yet dystopian vision of 2329 New York City, Nobody Wants to Die transports players to a world where eternal life is a luxury commodity. As jaded Mortality Department detective James Karra, you’ll investigate a string of brutal serial killings targeting the city’s wealthy elite able to afford immortality transfers.
However, the game’s unique hook allows Karra to delve deeper than any normal gumshoe. Equipped with an augmented reality visor enabling time manipulation, players can rewind and reconstruct the events of each grisly crime scene using futuristic investigative tools to uncover crucial clues.
“With Nobody Wants to Die, we give players the opportunity to investigate a killer and uncover the city’s dark secrets using innovative in-game tools and their own moral compass as a guide,” said lead game designer Grzegorz Golen.
Every disturbing new breakthrough in the case will piece together a larger narrative that forces Karra to confront society’s chilling transhumanist ethics. As the game progresses, the line between right and wrong blurs in this merciless world where death itself has become a faded memory.
“Players will lose themselves in this noir adventure that meaningfully explores the dangers of humanity’s quest for immortality,” Golen continued. “Karra must navigate those moral boundaries as a hardened detective in a society that has outgrown them.”
Built using the stunningly realistic Unreal Engine 5, Nobody Wants to Die seamlessly blends gameplay with its haunting cinematic storytelling. Not only will the visuals transport players, but the game’s moody atmosphere and mature sci-fi themes also promise a wholly immersive murder mystery experience.
According to producer Artur Jaskolski, “The dynamic, spectacular investigations players can conduct set a new bar for in-game narratives and cinematics.”
With its unique sci-fi remix of the neo-noir detective genre, engrossing futureworld setting, and seamless blending of gameplay and cinematic flair, Nobody Wants to Die is shaping up to be one of 2023’s most compelling original titles. Better start dusting off those deerstalker caps when this time-bending murder case hits stands in July.
