In a development sure to thrill his legions of fans, Jensen Ackles has secured his next major television role. The Supernatural alum will headline the upcoming Prime Video thriller series Countdown from executive producer Derek Haas.
Ackles will portray LAPD officer Mark Meachum, who finds himself entangled in an increasingly perilous web after joining a secret task force investigating a suspicious murder. As sinister underlying forces are gradually exposed, Meachum and the team must confront their own conflicting agendas to unite and save millions in the city.
The intense high-concept premise marks a departure from the supernatural subject matter Ackles is best known for, instead casting him squarely in gritty, grounded, serial thriller territory. However, it allows the actor to lean into his proven strengths as a dynamic lead capable of carrying an action-driven series.
