Actress Kristen Bell, known for voicing Anna in the hit Disney movies “Frozen” and its sequel, has opened up about how her success from the films interacts with her family life. While her two daughters appreciate the financial security the movies provide, Bell says they do not see themselves as part of the massive “Frozen” phenomenon.
In an interview, Bell explained that her daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9, realize the money from “Frozen” will help pay for college someday. However, they do not feel swept up in the films’ popularity. “Kids are meant to reject things their parents are involved in,” Bell remarked. She believes children naturally want to establish their own identities separate from their parents’ fame.
Looking back, Bell recalls being thrilled for the chance to work on a Disney animated film. “It had always been a dream of mine,” she said. She saw the role of Anna as more than just a career opportunity – it let her create a princess character that broke the usual Disney mold. Where most princesses stand perfectly, Bell wanted Anna to seem more real by snoring, talking too much, and tripping over things.
Audiences responded well to Anna’s relatable quirkiness, contributing to “Frozen’s” huge success worldwide. The franchise has now financially secured Bell’s family long-term. Two more “Frozen” movies are in development at Disney.
Despite her daughters’ indifference to the films themselves, Bell and her husband Dax Shepard believe their kids could succeed in show business someday if they wanted. As Bell puts it, “Why wouldn’t you want the opportunities, fun, creativity, and financial rewards of this career for your children?”
Most importantly though, Bell aims to teach her daughters healthy life lessons through her fame. This includes modeling proper conflict resolution and open family communication, even about her blockbuster career that altered all their lives. As “Frozen” continues shaping Bell’s professional path and family circumstances, she offers a unique perspective on parenting children in the spotlight.
