Back when Fall Guys got off to a great start, it was not long before it turned into one of the best games of the year. In the coming months, some players jokingly mentioned that it was a dead game, in reference to the fact that its fame was already history, although this changed a few days ago, when it was released as free-to-play and revived the interest in it.
The strategy of Epic Games has seemingly worked and as proof is the most recent record that the game has just broken.
Following its release on PlayStation 4 and released as part of the PlayStation Plus August 2020 freebies, Fall Guys turned out to be the most downloaded game in the service’s history. It followed suit on PC, registering more than 2 million units sold on Steam alone in a matter of days.
Since it became free-to-play, it was expected that the title would reaffirm its success, get a lot of new players and incidentally break several more records.
Fall Guys Has Already Gained an Incredible Number of Players
The predictions came true and as soon as it was available for free, the game exceeded the 20 million players mark in the first 48 hours as a free-to-play game.
It didn’t end there, because 12 days after it broke this record, Mediatonic reported that the number reached 50 million players, which is quite an achievement: “We are in absolute disbelief. Thank you all!”, commented Mediatonic.
To put it in context, it means that the number of Fall Guys players is larger than the population of Canada or California.
As we told you, Fall Guys was only 2 weeks as free-to-play with its Free for All version, so there is no doubt that the number will grow in the coming weeks and months, particularly if we take into account that there will be more events and content for the game, like an Assassin’s Creed themed challenge that has just started.
So what do you think of this great achievement by Fall Guys? Tell us in the comments. Fall Guys is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Epic Games Store).
