After several delays, the long-awaited open-world racing game Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has finally received a release date. Publisher Nacon has announced that the game will launch on September 12, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
Initially unveiled in 2020, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown was originally slated for release in September 2022 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. However, Nacon later confirmed that the previous-generation console versions had been canceled, and the game’s website currently lacks any mention of a Switch release, casting doubt on its availability for Nintendo’s platform.
Developed by Kylotonn Games, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown promises an immersive lifestyle and social experience that aims to redefine the standards of open-world racing games. Set on a meticulously recreated 1:1 scale version of Hong Kong Island, players can explore the bustling metropolis alone or with friends, collecting and customizing exceptional cars from dealerships and showcasing their automotive prowess to reach the elite of the competition.
According to Nacon, the game will feature over 100 licensed prestige car brands, allowing players to build and curate their dream garage of luxury vehicles. Players will also have the opportunity to align themselves with one of two driving clans – the Streets or the Sharps – each vying for fame and fortune on the island’s streets.
