Disney+ has officially announced the development of the second season of the widely acclaimed series “Ahsoka,” starring Rosario Dawson. This announcement is a significant addition to Lucasfilm’s expanding feature-development slate, which was recently unveiled, and includes a lineup of promising projects and noteworthy directors.

The news about the development of “Ahsoka” Season 2 comes after a successful first season, which concluded on October 3. The series, part of the larger Star Wars universe, has captivated audiences with its portrayal of Ahsoka Tano, a fan-favorite Jedi character. In Season 1, Dawson’s character is seen battling to thwart the plans of Grand Admiral Thrawn in the aftermath of the Empire’s fall.

Details about the upcoming season are still under wraps, with only the confirmation that it is “in the works.” This development indicates Lucasfilm’s commitment to expanding the Star Wars narrative, exploring new dimensions and continuing the legacy of beloved characters.

This announcement was part of a broader reveal that includes “The Mandalorian & Grogu” as a central part of Lucasfilm’s feature-development slate. This slate boasts films directed by talents like Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also intricately involved in the creation of “Ahsoka” Season 2.

The focus on “The Mandalorian & Grogu” suggests that more details about this project might emerge first, given its prominence in the development slate. However, both “Ahsoka” Season 2 and “The Mandalorian & Grogu” are in the early stages of development, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further information.

“Ahsoka” Season 1 has made a significant mark within the Star Wars franchise, earning widespread acclaim for its storytelling, character development, and nods to the broader universe.

It featured memorable cameos and references, including the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, and introduced characters like Sabine Wren and Grand Admiral Thrawn, known from the animated “Star Wars Rebels” series.

The anticipation for “Ahsoka” Season 2 is high, as fans look forward to more adventures and deeper exploration of the Star Wars universe, with Rosario Dawson continuing to bring the character of Ahsoka Tano to life.
