Marvel just dropped the first look at their upcoming movie “Captain America: Brave New World” and it looks epic! We get our first glimpse of Anthony Mackie fully suited up and ready for action as the new Captain America. Director Julius Onah seems to have crafted a thrill ride with high stakes battles and political drama.
In a cool nod to long-time fans, the trailer even acknowledges the casting change of Harrison Ford taking over as Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt. When Sam Wilson points out Ross looks different, Ford’s character quips “I had to shave the mustache.” It’s a fun way to address recasts like they did in Iron Man 2.
What really caught my eye was Ford playing the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! His Ross has risen to power, which means he and Sam could butt heads as symbols of America. Their relationship promises to inject layers of complexity to the storyline.
As the first movie fully passing the Captain America torch, this film looks to explore big themes like identity, duty, and living up to a legend. Anthony Mackie takes on an immense challenge stepping into the role made famous by Chris Evans. I can’t wait to see his take on the character!
With mind-blowing action guaranteed plus insight into the politics of heroism, “Captain America: Brave New World” has me way hyped for Phase Five of the MCU to kick off next year. This trailer was just a teaser – I’m dying to learn more secrets as we countdown to the big premiere in 2025!
