The popular Bhool Bhulaiyaa horror-comedy franchise is set to return this Diwali season with its third installment. Titled “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” the film brings together legendary actresses Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan alongside leading man Kartik Aaryan. Scheduled for international release on November 1, the movie continues the series’ blend of horror and humor elements.

Aaryan returns as the character Rooh Baba, who faces his most daunting challenge yet in the new film. “His backstory is explored deeper, adding layers to his personality,” Aaryan said. In this movie, Rooh Baba must confront not one but two incarnations of the mysterious Manjulika, played by Dixit and Balan. “Now he has double the trouble to deal with, which means double the fun,” Aaryan remarked.

The addition of Dixit to the cast alongside Balan marks a historic moment, combining two generations of celebrated Bollywood actresses. Aaryan enjoyed working with both stars and noted Balan’s cheerful demeanor and laughter on set. He also praised Dixit for her calming presence and strong screen presence.

Like previous entries, this installment continues the franchise’s tradition of incorporating well-known musical performances. It builds on past collaborations with international artist Pitbull as well as renowned Indian singers Diljit Dosanjh and Shreya Ghoshal. “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” was one of the first successful horror-comedy series in Bollywood, Aaryan said, attracting diverse audiences through its perfect fusion of genres.

The film is set to clash at the box office with Rohit Shetty’s anticipated action movie “Singham Again” during the Diwali release period. However, Aaryan expressed optimism about simultaneous hits, as the box office has seen in years past. If viewers enjoy both films, he said, it could mean great business success for both.

Rising star Triptii Dimri also joins the cast in a key role. Produced by Bhushan Kumar and directed by Anees Bazmee, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” aims to further broaden the reach of horror-comedy in Indian cinema. By blending horror with comedy, Aaryan noted, the genre appeals to entire families, not just adults. Audience reception during Diwali will determine if the franchise continues further.
