The highly anticipated game, “Like a Dragon: Ishin!” is soon to be released, and fans are excited to see what it has in store. Last week, SEGA teased gamers with a glimpse of the mini-games featured in the game, which is based on feudal Japan. Today, a new trailer was released, putting the spotlight on the game’s story.
The trailer showcases the game’s take on honor and revenge in the late Tokugawa era and early Meiji era, where firearms such as revolvers are now prevalent. This is a departure from the previous installment, “Yakuza Ishin,” where the protagonist used a unique fighting style, wielding a katana in one hand and a pistol in the other.
The new trailer gives players a glimpse of the cinematics and backstory of “Like a Dragon: Ishin!”, but doesn’t reveal any gameplay footage.
For those who are eager to see the gameplay, they can refer to the previous trailer that highlighted the mini-games or another video showcasing the protagonist’s different fighting styles.
“Like a Dragon: Ishin!” is set to release on February 21, 2023, and will be available on various platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC Master Race.
This remake, which uses the latest Yakuza engine, is a reimagining of the original “Yakuza Ishin” game that was only released in Japan on PlayStation 3.
The “Yakuza” series has a rich history, with two games set in feudal Japan, “Ishin” and “Kenzan.” “Ishin” takes place towards the end of the Tokugawa era and explores the arrival of the United States and the fall of the Tokugawa clan.
On the other hand, “Kenzan” is set 200 years prior, during the unification of Japan under the Tokugawa government. Fans are hopeful that the success of “Ishin” will lead to a remake of “Kenzan” for current-generation consoles, as both games were previously only released in Japan for PlayStation 3.
