You’ll never believe who’s leaving her mark on the new Marvel movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” – none other than the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna! Usually artists just license their music to movies, but Madonna actually gave the directors advice that ended up changing a big scene.
Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy told Andy Cohen all about their crazy experience pitching the movie to Madonna and asking to use her iconic 1989 hit “Like a Prayer.” They knew it was a long shot since Madonna doesn’t normally let people use that song. But they showed her in person how they planned to put it in this big fight sequence.
Levy said meeting Madonna at her house was surreal, like “meeting royalty”! After she watched the scene, she surprised them with a note about making it even better. And get this – they rushed to change it within two days because they knew she was totally right. Even Reynolds, who’s usually so funny, sounded serious saying Madonna’s idea made the scene way more intense.
It helped that Madonna’s son is a huge Deadpool fan too. But Levy thinks their passionate presentation and Madonna trusting their vision of the song is what really sealed the deal. Reynolds said asking “Madonna” for permission was super nerve-wracking too. But in the end, she signed off on it.
Can you believe the Queen of Pop out here collaborating with Deadpool? It just goes to show how artists from different worlds can inspire each other. I can’t wait to see Madonna’s magical touch on the movie when it hits theaters this July with Deadpool and Wolverine together at last!
