The highly anticipated trailer for “Devara Part 1” debuted at a major event in Mumbai, India featuring the film’s stars. The movie marks Telugu superstar NTR Jr.’s return to the big screen after his acclaimed performance in “RRR.” Set along India’s coastline, “Devara Part 1” reunites NTR Jr. with director Koratala Siva. They previously worked together on the hit film “Janatha Garage.” Bollywood stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan also star, with Khan playing the villain Bhaira.
The trailer launch generated massive buzz both in India and abroad. Over $1 million in advance tickets were sold for opening night showings in the U.S., setting a new record for the fastest pre-release earnings of any Indian movie. Karan Johar, whose company co-distributed the film in North India, called it “one of the most anticipated of Indian cinema” due to its scale, magic, and spectacle.
NTR Jr. thanked fans for their excitement, crediting “God’s blessings and the love always showered” by audiences. Co-star Janhvi Kapoor said she enjoyed working with NTR Jr., and now admires him even more. Playing the antagonist in a different language challenged Saif Ali Khan, but he relished the chance to star in a film of this caliber from Southern India, where recent movies have broken new ground.
Director Siva explained why the story required two parts. The sprawling tale of coastal India expanded so much during filming that its scale necessitated splitting it. The production features music by Anirudh Ravichander and work from acclaimed Indian creatives like cinematographer R. Rathnavelu.
Set to release September 27th in multiple languages worldwide, “Devara Part 1” is primed to make waves. With its record sales, stars, and epic vision, the film aims to significantly impact Indian cinema.
