Fans are excited because actress Miranda Cosgrove has hinted at a possible new “iCarly” project to pick up where the recently canceled Paramount+ revival series left off.
In an appearance on “The Talk,” Cosgrove gave hints about what would happen without giving away all the information. “I’m not allowed to 100% confirm anything yet, but I think the fans are going to be super excited because we have something in the works,” she told the show’s hosts.
When asked if he would be interested in writing about known characters again, Cosgrove said the new project would end the story. “We ended the revival on a cliffhanger, and we’re going to wrap that up,” she told us. This comment suggests that fans will finally get answers to plot points that have been left open, like Carly and Freddie’s possible relationship and the mystery surrounding Carly’s mother.
The original “iCarly” show, created by Dan Schneider, ran on Nickelodeon from 2007 to 2012. Teenagers Carly Shay (Cosgrove) and Sam Puckett (Jeannette McCurdy), their best friend, became famous on the internet thanks to their web show.
Nearly ten years after the original show finished, Paramount+ started a revival in 2021 that picked up where the story left off. In the new version, Carly is an adult juggling work, relationships, and family life. New characters like Harper (Laci Mosley) and Freddie’s granddaughter Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett) were added, but some original cast members stayed.
During the three seasons of the reboot, Cosgrove also worked as an executive producer with Jay Kogen and Ali Schouten. Jerry Trainer played Spencer, Carly’s brother, on the show, and Nathan Kress played Freddie again.
Cosgrove’s words suggest that fans of both the original series and its revival will soon get the closure they’ve sought since the show was canceled. Details about the format and release date are still unknown.
As excitement grows, fans want to know more about this possible new part of the “iCarly” world.
