A new photograph from the Rome set of “Bunny-Man” reveals Oscar nominee Giancarlo Giannini cloaked in judicial robes as the corrupt Judge Gladwell, supplying the first official look at Italy’s latest high-profile genre project.
The thriller, produced and fronted by Andrea Iervolino, assembles Tatiana Luter, James Franco, Bella Thorne, Mike Tyson, Michele Morrone, Franco Nero and Ana Golja around Giannini.
According to production notes, the story follows a multimillionaire rap star who hides behind a rabbit mask to avenge the online-circulated assault that led his sister to take her own life, blending vigilante action with giallo-style psychology.
Cameras rolled in late July at Cinecittà before moving to Turin streets, with trade listings marking 28 February 2025 as the final day of principal photography. While press releases omit a director, festival databases point to Giorgio Bruno, and IMDbPro credits Daniel H. Friedman, Iervolino and Alessandra Starr Ward with the script.
Motus Studios chief Emanuele Moretti said the team “strongly believe in the commercial potential of Bunny-Man” and intend to launch an independent superhero saga rooted in Italian culture. Industry observers note that comic-book sales in Italy surged in 2021, with manga revenue alone near €57 million, indicating fertile ground for a home-grown masked avenger.
Iervolino has stated that roughly 95 percent of the film will be shot on LED-wall virtual sets, a workflow he says trims expenses and adds a stylised sheen. Current schedules forecast a Los Angeles premiere during 2025, followed by territory-by-territory launches extending into early 2026.
The inclusion of Franco, still rebuilding his career after misconduct allegations, has drawn commentary online, yet Giannini’s stature and Tyson’s cameo are seen by local pundits as balancing the ensemble’s publicity risks.
Global rights are being handled through Iervolino’s crypto-reward platform TaTaTu, with extended footage set to screen for buyers at autumn markets.
