Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, says she was blocked from appearing at a franchise fan convention because she launched an OnlyFans page featuring hair-focused, non-nude content. In a post on her personal newsletter dated Sept. 17, the actor wrote that organizers told her the event was a “family show” and that OnlyFans was “affiliated with porn,” a rationale she called “baffling,” citing the prevalence of screen nudity among convention guests from mainstream projects.
Cave, 38, has framed the subscription venture as both creative experimentation and a financial bridge for her family, describing six months of trial-and-error making ASMR-style videos that emphasize the sounds and movement of her long hair. She has reiterated that her page does not feature nudity, while acknowledging it may appeal to viewers with a hair fetish and arguing that fetish content is not inherently sexual.
She added that convention appearances had, at points, provided the most reliable income of her year but said she is ready to “move on and play some new characters,” signaling a broader step away from Wizarding World events as a new ensemble prepares to take over those roles on television. Recent casting announcements indicate the character of Lavender Brown will be portrayed by a different actor in the forthcoming series.
The episode underscores a recurring friction between family-branded fan events and creators who use platforms associated with adult material, even when the individual’s output is non-explicit. Cave’s account, which she says was the basis for the convention’s decision, reflects how organizers weigh reputational risk and audience expectations alongside an actor’s control over their off-screen work. Neither the unnamed convention nor OnlyFans is quoted directly responding to her claims in the materials available; Cave wrote that she learned of the decision during booking discussions and chose to share the experience publicly.
