Director Ruben Fleischer has confirmed that Mark Ruffalo’s return to the Now You See Me franchise in the new film Now You See Me: Now You Don’t comes in the form of a brief cameo, even as work begins on a fourth installment. The third film in the heist series, led by returning stars Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher and Morgan Freeman alongside a younger trio of magicians, opened in U.S. cinemas on November 14 after a near decade-long gap since the second movie.
Fans began asking about Ruffalo’s status months ago, when trailers and featurettes arrived without any sign of Dylan Rhodes, the FBI agent-turned-mastermind he played in the first two films. In a recent interview, Fleischer explained that Ruffalo’s reduced presence comes down to a “busy schedule,” so the actor appears only at the end of the film.
