Marlon Wayans says sequels to “White Chicks” and “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood” are back on his radar, but he has tied both projects to one condition: a strong theatrical run for “Scary Movie 6.” Speaking on the Rap Attack Official podcast, Wayans said that if the new Scary Movie lands the way he expects, “we’ll be back real hard next with White Chicks 2,” and he added that Don’t Be a Menace 2 would follow the same path.
Wayans’ comments arrive as Scary Movie 6 moves closer to release, with the actor returning as Shorty and working again with his brothers on the script. In a recent interview, he described the new installment as a throwback to the franchise’s earlier, sharper style and said the team is building it to play big with audiences in theaters. Paramount has set the film for June 12, 2026, giving Wayans a clear box-office test before he commits to reviving other catalog titles.
Both comedies carry long tails. Sony’s 2004 White Chicks cost about $37 million and grossed about $113 million worldwide, becoming a staple for fans who grew up quoting it even as it drew rough notices at the time. Don’t Be a Menace, released in 1996, spoofed early-’90s “hood” dramas and was produced on a far smaller budget, later gaining a cult reputation that keeps it circulating in meme culture and throwback screenings.
The business logic is plain: a hit Scary Movie 6 would prove there is still a paying audience for the Wayans brand of broad parody, then give studios a reason to finance sequels built on familiar titles. Wayans framed it as a confidence play, telling listeners he wants to “dig in the crates and bring back some hits,” while signaling he intends to do it on his terms, with theaters as the scoreboard.
