“Off Campus” stars Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli used a night at the MTV Video Music Awards to shut down rumors of a feud, telling reporters the online talk amuses them more than it bothers them.
The pair appeared Sunday at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, where they walked the carpet and took the stage to introduce Sienna Spiro’s performance. The crowd erupted when they appeared, and Bright had to stop until the cheering eased.
Speculation about a rift began after both actors removed photos of each other from their Instagram profiles. It flared again in July, when Cameli’s girlfriend, Raina Morris, described messages fans had sent to her relatives. Her comments did not confirm any split between the co-stars.
Bright, 19, said the two see each other every day on set. She described sitting in the green room while Cameli scrolls through posts about things they supposedly said, and telling him none of it happened. “That’s all you can do” but laugh, she added. She joked that she simply wanted a tidy Instagram feed.
Cameli offered a matching account to another outlet. He said he laughs each time he encounters someone convinced the two are at odds, calling the conclusions people reach “fascinating.” He described Bright as extremely close to him and said, “She’s the best.”
Bright also spoke warmly about the wider ensemble, naming Mika Abdalla, Stephen Kalyn, Antonio Cipriano and Jalen Thomas Brooks as her family. She confirmed that the second season has finished filming and said the wrap party left her sad. Returning to characters they now know well, she said, feels far more comfortable than the first season did.
The Prime Video romance, based on Elle Kennedy’s novels, debuted in May and reached 36 million viewers worldwide in its first 12 days, according to Amazon. Season two adapts “The Score,” which centers on Kalyn’s Dean Di Laurentis, and is expected in 2027. Reports say the cast will lose one member and add new faces.
Cameli’s schedule stays full. He was recently announced for an adaptation of “Sleepy Hollow” opposite Sydney Sweeney.
