An Elizabeth Holmes documentary edged out a DC Studios superhero film at the North American box office over Halloween weekend, in a frame that holiday festivities turned into one of the year’s slowest. Studio estimates released Sunday put “You Can See Everything” at $10.6 million and “Clayface” at $10.4 million, a gap of just $200,684.
The documentary, which dissects the rise and collapse of the Theranos founder, collected its total from 2,655 theaters in its third weekend. Ticket sales fell 43% from the previous frame. “Clayface,” Warner Bros.’ body-horror take on the Batman villain, slid 57% in its second weekend. Its domestic haul now stands at $44.1 million against a reported $44 million production budget.
Halloween night itself drew moviegoers away from theaters on Saturday, and the weekend total was on track to land in the high-$50 million range, one of the weakest of 2026. “Wildwood” took third place with an estimated $7.5 million, down 39% from its debut, for a running total of $25.9 million. “Wicker” ($4.1 million) and “Street Fighter” ($3.2 million) rounded out the top five.
The result stings for a studio that expected a horror-tinged release to benefit from the holiday. Yet the comparison carries caveats. The two films sit at different points in their theatrical runs, and the close finish does not in itself signal weak interest in “Clayface.” The documentary also has a smaller footprint abroad, which let the superhero film claim the worldwide weekend lead with $22.8 million and a global total of roughly $82.9 million.
Even so, a 57% second-weekend drop is steeper than the 43% decline the documentary posted a week later in its run, and it raises questions about word of mouth for a comic-book release carrying a modest budget. Warner Bros. has not commented on the numbers.
The broader market remains healthy. Domestic ticket sales are running more than 17% ahead of last year and have reached nearly $8.5 billion. Final figures arrive Monday and could shift the order of the top two, given how little separates them.
