The highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake is set to be released on March 24th for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the iconic survival-horror game that introduced many gameplay elements that have since become industry standards. However, there has been some confusion regarding the inclusion of the Separate Ways campaign in the remake.
According to industry insider Dusk Golem, Separate Ways will not be included in the base game but will be released later this year as a paid downloadable extension. Although it was free in the original version, this time players may have to pay for the privilege of playing this campaign.
Despite this, there is good news for fans who were disappointed with the length of the original Separate Ways campaign. Dusk Golem has indicated that the new DLC will have a larger scope than the PS2 original, and as a result, it will offer a longer playing time.
The original Separate Ways campaign lasted for about three and a half hours, but the expanded version is expected to offer much more content. In fact, there is talk of a “DLC pipeline,” which suggests that there may be more add-ons in the future.
However, some fans have expressed disappointment with the news of paid DLC, particularly as the original Separate Ways campaign was free. Some argue that they should not have to pay extra for content that was previously available for free.
Nevertheless, others point out that the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4 had worse graphics, and the remake provides a significant visual and gameplay upgrade.
The remake will also include The Mercenaries mode, which will be released as a free update later this year, along with a VR implementation that will also be free.
The lack of additional content at release may be a source of criticism for some fans, but the promise of additional modes and DLC should provide an incentive for players to keep coming back to the game.
Currently, there is no information on whether the Assignment Ada game mode will be included in the remake. Fans will have to wait and see whether this mode will be available immediately, released with Separate Ways, or cancelled altogether.
