Bethesda has outlined details for Starfield’s upcoming patch, which will focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes and laying the groundwork for substantial new features and content updates later in 2024.
Slated to hit the Steam beta branch on March 6, the patch will add new expressive poses and animations to the game’s photo mode so players can better capture their in-game adventures. The vital scanner will also be improved so users can continue scanning their surroundings even while performing other actions like harvesting resources or opening doors.
Several key bugs will be addressed as well, such as a glitch that caused the NPC David Barron to frequently disappear during the “Sabotage” side mission. Players will also be able to set inactive missions to active more seamlessly.
While this update lacks major new content, it’s an important step in optimizing and stabilizing Starfield ahead of the game’s ambitious post-launch roadmap. Later this year, Bethesda plans to introduce substantial features like mod support on PC and Xbox along with story-driven DLC like the “Shattered Space” expansion.
