Fans of “Sex Education” may breathe a sigh of relief. Ncuti Gatwa will appear in season 4 of the series. And Neil Patrick Harris has revealed that the Fourteenth Doctor will be gay for the first time.
There are black clouds looming over “Sex Education.” Another actress recently dropped out of Season 4. This is already the fourth person who will not return to the series.
No wonder they were worried whether Ncuti Gatwa – newly cast as the Doctor in “Doctor Who” – will return to the role of Eric. Thankfully, their concerns will not come true.
The Sex Education season 4 – Ncuti Gatwa will return as Eric
Since Ncuti Gatwa got the role of the Fourteenth Doctor, her presence in “Sex Education” wasn’t so sure at all, particularly since the series’ cast is rapidly and unexpectedly shrinking. As reported by Variety, however, there is nothing to fear. Ncuti Gatwa will return in Season 4 as Eric.
In parallel, it is now known that as many as four actresses will not appear again in the series. Patricia Allison (serial Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Simone Ashley (Olivia) as well as Rahkee Thakrar (teacher Emily Sands) confirmed their departure.
Meanwhile, an important piece of information about the new Doctor has been released. It was written by Neil Patrick Harris, who has recently finished work on a special episode of Doctor Who, filmed for the 60th anniversary of the series.
It will be in this episode that Ncuti Gatwa will make his debut as the Fourteenth Doctor. Speaking to Variety, an actor revealed that he had the opportunity to meet Ncuti Gatwa and that his character will be the first gay Doctor.
I had a chance to meet and talk to him a little bit, he is great. He will be the first gay Doctor, meaning a super cool, sexier Doctor.
That is one of the few pieces of information we have received on the new incarnation of the Doctor. The returning series showrunner Russell T Davies did not want to reveal anything about the Fourteenth Doctor.
It would just be unfair, Jodie [Whittaker] is now, this is her role and she has a big finale in October, said the creator.
Ncuti Gatwa, in turn, admitted recently that his dream would be to bring Gillian Anderson back to the series and even had an idea for a role for her.
What’s next for “Sex Education”? The series fate is uncertain. Aimee Lou Wood said last year that in her opinion the 4th season of “Sex Education” could already be the finale.
Ncuti Gatwa himself, meanwhile, though he is returning for Season 4, his take on the role of the Doctor may suggest that this will be the final season of “Sex Education.” For now, however, the Netflix has not revealed future plans for the series.
