While the Game Awards event brought important news for fans of Japanese RPGs, which included the release date of Final Fantasy 16, the online community has noted a detail of equal interest.
Final Fantasy 16 will be released on June 22, 2023 on PS5 consoles. While the title is subject to a temporary exclusivity on Sony devices, versions for other platforms will not arrive until December 31, 2023 at the earliest.
We can expect the game on PC sometime after that date, though it’s not clear what will happen to the Xbox Series X/S port.
The trailer for Final Fantasy 16’s debut date shows gameplay snippets, including scenes showing a dog. The game will apparently allow you to add a dog to your team (controlled by artificial intelligence), and you will even get to pet it. This is most likely Torgal, which we could see as a puppy in one of the earlier trailers.
We have to admit that the Japanese production on each subsequent videos looks better and better, and it appears that next summer will be worth spending in the magical world of Valisthea.
The storyline of Final Fantasy 16 will be revolving around the series’ characteristic concept of powerful crystals, with events unfolding over many years. We should expect huge changes occurring in the world and characters.
Eikons will appear in the game, the equivalent of the “summons” known from previous parts. They are powerful deities or creatures that can be summoned to help.
While in Final Fantasy 16 Eikons will have an important role in the story, their use in combat is supposed to push the series into new directions – the traditional abilities of the summoners are to be reflected in the actions taken by the gamer.
There will also be a possibility to “juggle” abilities and combine them in deadly combinations. Have you watched the new trailer? What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments section below.
