Blindflug Studios, a Swiss-Polish game development company, has unveiled its latest project, Ground of Aces—a WWII base building game for PC, with a scheduled release in 2024. To support the game’s development, a Kickstarter campaign has been initiated, which can be accessed here.
Building and Managing a WWII Airbase
In Ground of Aces, players are given the opportunity to construct and oversee a WWII airbase, inhabited by a diverse group of pilots and crew members.
The game offers an endless free build mode, as well as Theater of War Campaigns, which enable players to delve into WWII history, exploring the challenges faced by airbases and their personnel, such as the events surrounding the Battle of Britain.
Ground of Aces draws inspiration from base builder games like Rimworld and Going Medieval, and historical strategy games such as Hearts of Iron IV.
The game’s graphical style pays homage to the “ligne claire” style of Franco-Belgian comics, including Biggles and Buck Danny.

Blindflug Studios co-founder and Executive Producer, Moritz Zumbühl, has been developing the concept for Ground of Aces for several years.
