During the PlayStation Showcase 2023, fans were treated to the highly anticipated gameplay trailer for Alan Wake 2, accompanied by the exciting confirmation of an October release date. In addition to playing as the titular writer, players will have the opportunity to control a second hero—Saga Anderson. The latest behind-the-scenes material provides a closer look at this new character.
Dual Heroes, Dual Narratives, and Dynamic Worlds
Remedy Entertainment has shared more insights into Alan Wake 2, revealing that the game will feature not only two playable characters but also two narratives and two distinct worlds. Depending on the character being controlled, the style and mood of the game will shift accordingly.
The developers drew inspiration from acclaimed works such as David Fincher’s “Seven” and the series “True Detective” to craft Saga’s path.
Kyle Rowley, the game’s director, explained that Saga Anderson will represent the perspective of players who may not have had the opportunity to experience the first installment of Alan Wake’s adventures. Newcomers to the series will be able to unravel the secrets of Bright Falls alongside the heroine, delving into the mysteries and revelations of the town.
Rowley added, “We wanted to make sure we had a champion that would bring new players perspective. We wanted to make sure that new players would learn along with her through the story.”
