EA Sports FC 24, the latest installment in the beloved football video game franchise, might bring back one of the most infamous celebrations in FIFA history—a celebration often labeled as “toxic” by the online community.
For avid fans of the series, who are witnessing the franchise shift away from its long-standing license, memories may resurface of the ability to silence opponents as a celebration. While such celebrations are nothing new in real-world soccer matches, their presence in the virtual realm has sparked considerable frustration and annoyance.
In the past, some players intentionally prolonged this celebration after scoring a goal, adding insult to injury and aggravating their opponents. This deliberate act led to feelings of helplessness and even intensified the disappointment of being already behind in a match.
A Provocative Exultation Teased in the Announcement Trailer
Shortly after the release of the EA Sports FC 24 announcement trailer, astute fans spotted a potential return of this provocative celebration. As reported by Dexerto and evident in the accompanying cover image, Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid can be seen preparing to silence his opponents in the video.
FIFA 21 saw the removal of this celebration due to the toxicity exhibited by some users. EA Sports sought to offer alternative celebrations that were more enjoyable and less provocative. However, with the upcoming release of EA Sports FC 24, it appears that the publisher might have reconsidered its decision.
Concerns and Speculations Among the FIFA Community
Understandably, players who have been on the receiving end of frustrating losses or “rage quits” are expressing concern about the potential return of this celebration. They fear that after every goal conceded, they might be subjected to a forced silence. While it remains possible that Electronic Arts may restrict the celebration to offline modes only, no official confirmation has been provided yet.
It is worth noting that EA Sports FC 24 will also be available on the Nintendo Switch, offering an “almost” next-gen experience compared to previous versions of FIFA.
Ultimate Edition Cover Controversy and Memes
In recent hours, the Ultimate Edition cover of EA Sports FC 24 has been unveiled. However, it has received mixed reviews and has become the subject of numerous amusing memes circulating online. Fans have expressed their disappointment, highlighting the cover’s shortcomings and sparking lighthearted humor within the community.
As the release date approaches, the question of whether the controversial celebration will make a comeback in EA Sports FC 24 continues to be a topic of discussion among FIFA enthusiasts. The anticipation builds as players eagerly await more information and official announcements from Electronic Arts regarding this contentious feature.
