In a move that’s sure to delight music fans and audiophiles alike, Disney+ has announced the global streaming premiere of the landmark Queen concert film “Queen Rock Montreal” on May 15th. This digitally remastered performance not only captures the legendary rock band at the height of their powers, but it also marks the first-ever concert film on Disney+ to feature IMAX Enhanced sound powered by DTS.

Originally filmed over two nights in November 1981, “Queen Rock Montreal” immortalized Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon as they electrified the stage at Montreal’s Forum. These specially staged performances have now been painstakingly restored by Mercury Studios, with executive production credits going to Geoff Kempin, Alice Webb, Jim Beach, and Matilda Beach for Queen Films.

The inclusion of IMAX Enhanced sound is a game-changer, promising to bring viewers closer to the awe-inspiring live experience than ever before. “As the first concert film to feature IMAX Enhanced sound, it’ll make viewers feel that they are the champions, experiencing every thrilling guitar riff and beat in Freddie’s beautiful voice in stunning clarity,” the announcement reads.

Disney+’s partnership with IMAX and DTS is key to enhancing the viewing experience, allowing the full dynamic range and audio fidelity intended by Queen to shine through. This release follows the record-breaking success of “Queen Rock Montreal” as the biggest IMAX exclusive event release ever, cementing its status as a landmark moment in rock history.

In addition to the premiere of “Queen Rock Montreal,” Disney+ is also expanding its IMAX Enhanced offerings, with 18 Marvel fan-favorites receiving the immersive audio treatment. From the cosmic adventures of “Guardians of the Galaxy” to the mystical realms of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” subscribers can look forward to an unparalleled audiovisual experience that extends beyond the visuals.

Disney’s commitment to delivering premium content experiences is evident in this landmark collaboration, which not only celebrates the historic partnership between IMAX and the Disney Entertainment empire but also promises to transport fans to the heart of Queen’s electrifying 1981 performance. Get ready to turn up the volume and let Freddie Mercury and his bandmates take you on a sonic journey that’s sure to stir the soul.
