Leaked Concept Art Reveals Beetle as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC Villain

In a recent data breach, fans of the hit PlayStation 5 title Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have been given an exciting first look at the game’s upcoming DLC. Leaked concept art and previously uncovered files have unveiled the identity of the next supervillain set to challenge the web-slinging duo of Peter Parker and Miles Morales – The Beetle.

The leaked concept art, originally shared by Reddit user KekanKok, depicts a striking design for the Beetle character. Drawing inspiration from both the classic power-armored version of the villain as well as the more recent Janice Lincoln incarnation, the design showcases a sleek and formidable antagonist for Spider-Man to face.

This reveal comes on the heels of earlier leaks that suggested the Beetle would be the focus of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s post-launch DLC content. Game files allegedly discovered during the Insomniac Games data theft incident included references to Janice Lincoln, the daughter of the villain Tombstone, and her transformation into the Beetle persona.

In the comics, Janice Lincoln has carried the Beetle mantle since 2010, following in the footsteps of previous characters who have donned the iconic insect-themed armor. The leaked concept art seems to indicate that Insomniac Games is drawing heavily from this more recent iteration of the character for their interpretation in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which launched in October 2023 to critical acclaim, has already proven to be a massive success for developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game, which sees both Peter Parker and Miles Morales teaming up to battle the villainous Kraven the Hunter, has won numerous awards, including DICE Awards for Animation, Audio Design, Character, Music, Technical Achievement, and Action Game of the Year.

With the introduction of the Beetle as a DLC antagonist, fans can expect an exciting new chapter in the ongoing struggle between Spider-Man and his foes. The leaked concept art has only heightened anticipation for the upcoming DLC, which promises to expand the rich and immersive world of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 even further.

As Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have yet to officially announce the Beetle DLC, details regarding its release timeline and content remain scarce. However, with the recent leaks, it seems clear that the web-slinging action is about to take flight to new heights, as Spider-Man faces off against one of his most iconic adversaries.
