As anticipation builds for the upcoming Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, Lady Gaga has teased her interpretation of the iconic DC villain, Harley Quinn, promising a fresh and authentic take on the beloved character. In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, the multi-talented artist shared insights into her approach to the role, emphasizing its uniqueness and departure from her previous work.

“You know my version of Harley is mine, and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters,” Gaga revealed, hinting at her dedication to crafting a portrayal that aligns with the film’s vision and the established personalities of the characters.

The “Born This Way” singer expressed her excitement about the opportunity to explore a new side of her artistry, stating, “I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun.”

Directed by Todd Phillips, the highly anticipated Joker: Folie à Deux will once again see Joaquin Phoenix reprising his critically acclaimed role as the Joker from the 2019 original. This time, however, the film will delve into the shared madness between the Clown Prince of Crime and his notorious partner-in-crime, Harley Quinn, portrayed by Lady Gaga.

While plot details remain tightly guarded, the recently released trailer for the movie offered tantalizing glimpses of Gaga’s Harley, suggesting a fresh take on the character’s dynamic with the Joker. Rather than the traditional psychiatrist-turned-villain storyline, it appears Harley will be portrayed as a patient at Arkham, potentially serving as the catalyst for the Joker’s descent into chaos.

The film’s title, “Folie à Deux,” which translates to “shared madness by two people in close association,” further hints at the central theme of the twisted romance between the two iconic villains.

Joker: Folie à Deux

Gaga’s comments underscore her commitment to exploring the intricacies of Harley Quinn’s character, promising a nuanced and authentic portrayal that will resonate with fans of the DC universe. With her impressive range as an actress and her penchant for pushing creative boundaries, Gaga’s interpretation is poised to breathe new life into the beloved character.

Alongside Phoenix and Gaga, Joker: Folie à Deux boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Steve Coogan in undisclosed roles, setting the stage for an epic clash of personalities and a captivating exploration of the shared madness that binds the Joker and Harley Quinn.

As the release date of October 4 draws nearer, anticipation continues to mount for Lady Gaga’s “brand new” and “very authentic” take on Harley Quinn. With her promise of an unprecedented performance, fans eagerly await the opportunity to witness the multi-talented artist’s unique vision for one of the most iconic characters in the DC universe.
