Netflix has officially announced the release date for its highly anticipated dark comedy series “KAOS,” a modern reimagining of Greek mythology starring Jeff Goldblum as Zeus. The show, created by Charlie Covell of “The End of the F***ing World” fame, is set to premiere on August 29, 2024, with all episodes available for streaming on the same day.
“KAOS” presents a contemporary twist on classic Greek myths, centering on Zeus, the King of the Gods, as he grapples with his own mortality and paranoia. The series’ premise revolves around Zeus discovering a wrinkle on his forehead, triggering a downward spiral of fear and instability as he becomes convinced his reign is coming to an end.
Jeff Goldblum, known for his unique charisma and memorable roles in “Jurassic Park” and “Thor: Ragnarok,” steps into the sandals of Zeus. Netflix describes his character as “an all-powerful being who’s determined to hold onto that status by any means necessary.” Goldblum’s casting, which came after Hugh Grant’s departure due to scheduling conflicts, seems tailor-made for the actor’s distinctive style.
The show boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Janet McTeer as Hera, David Thewlis as Hades, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, and Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus. The series will explore the dysfunctional dynamics of the divine family, with each character harboring their own ambitions and grievances.
In addition to the godly drama, “KAOS” will feature a mortal storyline following Riddy (Aurora Perrineau) and Orpheus (Killian Scott), a married couple unknowingly drawn into a world-saving plot.
